I am a student counsellor currently completing a Master of Social Work at York University.
My approach to counselling is rooted in principles of non-judgement and acceptance. I believe that observing thoughts, feelings, and actions with a spirt of understanding and compassion is crucial to identify areas for change and growth.
I utilize clinical modalities that emphasize the adaptive value of behaviours and emotions, as well as highlight the capacity for change, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy. My previous academic training—where I received a PhD in Political Science—has provided me a holistic understanding of mental health, allowing me to appreciate the way our social environment impacts our individual sense of self and well-being.
